Gospel Reading For The Healing Message: Matthew 6:1-4

“Beware of practicing your piety before others in order to be seen by them; for then you have no reward from your Father in heaven. So whenever you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be praised by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward. But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your alms may be done in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”

The Healing Message:

God's Rewards

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God—not the result of works, so that no one may boast. -Ephesians 2:8-9

For it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for his good pleasure.-Philippians 2:13

FIRST PART:

7 Types of Persons Who Will Receive God's Rewards

1) The Soul Winners.

Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.-Daniel 12:3

2) The humble servants or those who give something to the servants of God.

And whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple—truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward.-Matthew 10:42

3) The faithful and good stewards.

His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy slave; you have been trustworthy in a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’-Matthew 25:23

4) The generous.

But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.-Luke 6:35

5) Those who do good and keep in doing good even if no one is recognizing his good deeds.

But glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek.-Romans 2:10

6) Everyone for whatever good he does even if he is a slave or free, rich or poor.

Knowing that whatever good we do, we will receive the same again from the Lord, whether we are slaves or free.-Ephesians 6:8

7) Those who have endured sufferings, insults and persecutions because of Jesus Christ and the gospel.

Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.-Matthew 5:11-12

SECOND PART:

How Do We Receive These Rewards?

1. In order for us to receive God's rewards we must have faith in God and put our trust in him.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way to the place where I am going.”-John 14:1-4

2. He must do the act of righteousness in secret.

But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your alms may be done in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”-Matthew 6:1-4

3. We must not react negatively against those who judge and insult us.

Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.-Matthew 5:11-12

4. We must not grow weary in doing good no matter what the people will say.

So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up. So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith.-Galatians 6:9-10

5. Forget the past and press on towards the goal.

Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 3:13-14

6. We shall certainly receive the reward now in this present life and later in the afterlife if we continually give and give and give.

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.-Luke 6:38

7. Let us focus our eyes on Jesus.

This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful.-Joshua 1:8

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such hostility against himself from sinners, so that you may not grow weary or lose heart.-Hebrews 12:1-3

May you have a happy and prosperous life!
