Gospel Reading For The Healing Message: Luke 9:57-62

As they went on their way, a man said to Jesus, "I will follow you wherever you go."
Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lie down and rest." He said to another man, "Follow me." But that man said, "Sir, first let me go back and bury my father." Jesus answered, "Let the dead bury their own dead. You go and proclaim the Kingdom of God." Someone else said, "I will follow you, sir; but first let me go and say goodbye to my family." Jesus said to him, "Anyone who starts to plow and then keeps looking back is of no use for the Kingdom of God."

The Healing Message: Worthy Servants Of God

How can we become worthy servants of God thus making our services and works acceptable to him?

1. We must be ready to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to him.

Romans 12:1-4 - So then, my friends, because of God's great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer. Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God - what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect.

And because of God's gracious gift to me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you should. Instead, be modest in your thinking, and judge yourself according to the amount of faith that God has given you. We have many parts in the one body, and all these parts have different functions.

2. We must humble ourselves all the time and offer your talents and skills to God.

Philippians 2:3-8 - Don't do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire to boast, but be humble toward one another, always considering others better than yourselves. And look out for one another's interests, not just for your own. The attitude you should have is the one that Christ Jesus had:

He always had the nature of God, but he did not think that by force he should try to remain equal with God. Instead of this, of his own free will he gave up all he had, and took the nature of a servant. He became like a human being and appeared in human likeness. He was humble and walked the path of obedience all the way to death - his death on the cross.

3. Be submissive and obedient always to the word of God and to the rules and regulations of the ministry.

4. Be honest and faithful to your colleague.

Matthew 25:21 - 'Well done, you good and faithful servant!' said his master. 'You have been faithful in managing small amounts, so I will put you in charge of large amounts. Come on in and share my happiness!'

- Honesty involves faithfulness to time regulation. Follow the time schedules faithfully.
- Honesty involves giving your best talent to God.
- Honesty involves treasure: Be honest of what treasure is given you.

5. Do your work without complaining.

Philippians 2:14-16 - Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may be innocent and pure as God's perfect children, who live in a world of corrupt and sinful people. You must shine among them like stars lighting up the sky, as you offer them the message of life. If you do so, I shall have reason to be proud of you on the Day of Christ, because it will show that all my effort and work have not been wasted.

6. Forget your faults and weaknesses, past life and focus your life on Jesus Christ.

Philippians 3:12-13 - I do not claim that I have already succeeded or have already become perfect. I keep striving to win the prize for which Christ Jesus has already won me to himself. Of course, my friends, I really do not think that I have already won it; the one thing I do, however, is to forget what is behind me and do my best to reach what is ahead.

Luke 9:62 - Jesus said to him, "Anyone who starts to plow and then keeps looking back is of no use for the Kingdom of God."

7. Be consistent in all things.

Philippians 3:14-16 - So I run straight toward the goal in order to win the prize, which is God's call through Christ Jesus to the life above.

All of us who are spirtually mature should have this same attitude. But if some of you have a different attitude, God will make this clear to you. However that may be, let us go forward according to the same rules we have followed until now.

Hebrews 13:7-8 - Remember your former leaders, who spoke God's message to you. Think back on how they lived and died, and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

To summarize:

- If you want to serve God, follow and obey God unconditionally.

May you have a happy and prosperous life!

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
